4th Annual Lotte Duty Free Guam Live International Music Festival Returns June 3

 

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) and Lotte Duty Free announced that the 4th Annual Lotte Guam Live International Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017, at theGovernor Joseph F. Flores Memorial (Ypao Beach) Park in Tumon, Guam.

“We’re looking forward to bringing back different genres of music from hit makers in this region, including K-pop and a blend of Guam’s love for reggae and island music,”said GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight. “When you add the iconic backdrop of Two Lovers Point and the world famous Ypao Beach, we have everything we need for local residents and visitors to enjoy Guam’s biggest annual international music event. We encourage everyone to get their tickets and give a warm Håfa Adai welcome to our performers.”

 

Canadian reggae fusion band Magic! will be headlining Guam Live this year. Their debut single “Rude” accumulated 1.2 billion views on YouTube and rose to the top of the charts in the United States and United Kingdom. The multi-platinum band will also perform their other hits “Don’t Kill the Magic,” “Let Your Hair Down” and “Lay You Down Easy.”

Adding to the international flare, Korean hip-hop group, “My Fans are Better Than Yours,” orMFBTY has been confirmed to perform at Guam Live. Consisting of Korea’s most influential hip-hop artists Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae, as well as rapper Bizzy, MFBTY debuted in 2013 with their single,“Sweet Dream” and followed with their album, “Wondaland,” in 2015.

New Zealand/Australian island reggae artist Sammy J, best known for hits like “No Sleep” and“Say That You Love Me” will take the stage. In addition, island hip hop sensation Spawnbreeziewill perform his smash hits “Oh my goodness” and YouTube hit “Don’t Let Go.” Guam Live also welcomes Hawaiian contemporary folk rock singer and songwriter Anuhea, known for her hit singles“Sweet Thing” and “Island Inside Me.”

Rising progressive rock reggae local band The John Dank Show will be returning to Guam Live,performing hits from their self-titled EP and album, “Lights” such as “EZ4U,” “Playing my part,”and “Current.” Local hip hop sensation Jed Antonio will also take the Guam Live stage again as a solo act with fresh beats and popular hits such as “The Low” and “Lately.” Guam’s David “Davidior” Park will cap off the star-studded Guam Live lineup, fresh off co-producing and releasing“I’m the One” by DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper andQuavo. The number one single has already been viewed over 140 million times on YouTube.

Cebu Pacific : MINDANAO TRAVEL ADVISORY

Operations of Cebu Pacific in Mindanao remain normal, with no restrictions or limitations imposed on air travel by the authorities.
However, in light of recent situation in Marawi City and the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo strongly advise all its passengers to allot sufficient travel time to get to the airports due to the heightened security measures being implemented. Heavy traffic is also anticipated around the areas as numerous check points are expected to be put up.
Guests flying to and from any Cebu Pacific or Cebgo destination in Mindanao from May 25 to 31, 2017 who are concerned about travelling at this time may opt to rebook their tickets from free within 30 days; or place the cost of the ticket in a travel fund for future use.

· Be conscious in bringing objects with sharp edges (i.e. nail files, nippers, nail cutters, scissors, etc.) as these may not be allowed in your hand-carry baggage

· If you are bringing gadgets like your laptop, be prepared to take it out for inspection

Construction Show Cebu remains relevant at 25

Marking its milestone at 25, Construction Show Cebu (CEBUCON) is set to take the center stage at the Sky Hall and Mountain Wing Atrium in SM Seaside City Cebu, from June 2 to 5, 2017.

With the theme “25 Years of Building Business Networks in the Construction Industry in the Southern Philippines,” CEBUCON remains relevant by showcasing product solutions, innovations and expertise that meet the current and future demands of the industry in the region.

It was first conceived and organized in 1993 to be aligned with the vision that Cebu will become a major gateway of trade and tourism in the region. 



CEBUCON Organizer L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc.’s managing director, Lilibeth D. Abais, said that this milestone event is evident that CEBUCON delivers its commitment to be a vital trade link between suppliers and their market in the region’s construction industry as the popular venue for product displays, launchings, market tests and networking event among industry trade professionals, suppliers and stakeholders.

The robust building activities spread out in other parts of the nation given the massive national infrastructure spending by the government. For instance, in Central Visayas, majority of construction activities in the region are located in Cebu, including the P27.9 billion Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), which had its groundbreaking last March; the P50-billion Metro Cebu Expressway that is set to start next year; the P9.2B New Cebu International Container Port; the P98 billion 25-kilometer Cebu rail project; and the P420 million worth Metro Cebu flood control projects, among others.

Bohol and Siquijor also saw rapid infrastructure developments since the first semester of last year. Such strong growth of the construction industry here and elsewhere nationwide is seen to keep its momentum on the back of sustained economic fundamentals. The Philippine construction industry is expected to continuously grow in the next three years, bolstered by the residential and infrastructure markets.

From $30.2 billion in 2015, Timetric’s Construction Intelligence Center (CIC) projects the sector to reach $47 billion in 2020 at a compound annual growth rate of 9.22 percent. As reported by BMI Research’s Philippine Infrastructure Report last January, construction industry is predicted to grow from P1.09 trillion this year to P1.73 trillion in 2021. The sector’s contribution to the country’s gross domestic product is, likewise, projected to expand from 6.8 percent in 2017 to 7.3 percent in four years.
